The final project activity was a huge Model United Nations conference of the project. Students from each participating organisation could prove their communication skills and knowledge of the main topics of the conference discussed from the very special point of view - in the role of a delegate of a foreign country.
On 24th October 2024 we traveled to the Turkish city of Bursa. Our expedition consisted of six students and two teachers.
After twelve hours of a very adventurous journey (by train, bus, plane and bus again) we found ourselves in the great company of other delegates from Bulgaria, Italy and especially Turkey. During three pleasantly exhausting days at the VoyMUN conference, important world problems were addressed in the UNWOMEN, DISEC and UNHCR commissions.
We think that the most important skill we acquired in Turkey is respect for others, new cultures, opinions and world views. At the same time, we met great people, made new friends, and acquired diplomatic skills. We learned to speak publicly, use our language skills, work under stress, and improvise under the pressure of circumstances.
In addition to the demanding VoyMUN and all the duties associated with it, we also experienced a lot of fun and getting to know Turkish culture. Turkish students, their teachers, and the director of the partner school prepared a packed program, took care of us, and were very generous and hospitable. Thanks to them, our adventurous journey of discovery became unforgettable.
Opinions of our delegates and teachers:
“This project gave me an indescribable amount of skills, knowledge and self-confidence.”
“I am proud of our clever students, who are great and inspiring people. I will never forget the moments we spent together in Turkey.”
“During these three days, I was able to meet many new people with whom I shared many experiences and I want to invite other students and teachers to join ERASMUS.”
“VoyMUN was definitely an unforgettable experience for me, which moved me forward a lot, especially in the areas of public presentation, argumentation and critical thinking, but I also had the opportunity to meet many great and friendly people who made this experience unique.”
“Seeing our students overcome their fears and gain new experiences is extremely motivating for the work of a teacher. I thank them for their joy, diligence, and effort to do their best, even though the program was packed, but incredibly beautiful. I also thank our partners in the project, who made this time magical. I believe that this is not the last time we have seen each other and we will continue to be an encouragement to each other.” (Anna Trenčanová)
The Erasmus+ VoyAGE project provided us all with amazing experiences, new friendships and experiences that we will remember for a long time.
